“LSSNY is in the process of taking over operations for a Sanctuary facility located in Brooklyn. There are 84 families currently living at the facility, all asylum seeking.  Because this program is in the process of transition, there is no one agency “running the show” at this point. That said, we simply could not let the 120 children living there go without a very special Christmas celebration — their first Christmas here in the United States!

On Thursday, I was able to fill my SUV with brand new toys C/O our New Life Center food pantry on Long Island (see photo of Coordinator Hylkije Halili and her team of volunteers). I was also able to partner with Sydone Thompson (Regional Manager from the Department of Education) who brought in a team of volunteers from @brothershelping1 (see event flyer) and so, our very own Christmas miracle came to life.

There were plenty of toys, new coats, snacks, and even a visit from one of Santa’s elves! ‘Christmas is most truly Christmas when we celebrate it by giving the light of love to those who need it most.’ What a gift to all involved to be able to make this happen.  Happy Holidays!”
