“I was diagnosed in 2014 with stage 1 breast cancer.  I had a lumpectomy, 23 radiation treatments, and 13 treatments of chemotherapy.

I was working in LSSNY’s Safe Haven program when it happened and everyone was very supportive.  Especially my Supervisor Marcia.  It was hard.  I had blurry vision and swollen feet and I lost my hair.  It affected my eyelashes, finger and toenails.  It felt like I lost everything, but I never lost faith.  To me it was always temporary.

Now I’m fine.  I get tested every year and I encourage everyone to have regular mammograms and pap smears.  I’m proud to be part of LSSNY and I am grateful for all of the support and encouragement people showed me.”
