Internet access is not a luxury; it’s a necessity.

It’s how people conduct research, access educational and career opportunities, manage their healthcare, and connect with community.

Those who have access to reliable, high-speed Internet access take it for granted. Those who do not can be left behind.

We are thrilled to report that LSSNY’s residential program will benefit from the Internet Pilot Program to deliver free Internet access to New Yorkers living in supportive and affordable housing. This is a collaboration with the New York Public Library funded by The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, with Internet installed and provided by Flume.

A press conference will be held Monday, May 4 at our St. John’s House II residence in the Bronx.

From LSSNY, our President and CEO Dr. Damyn Kelly will be in attendance, as will Executive Director for Residential Programs Rachel Bleecker; Director, St. John’s Houses I & II Residences Dr. Sunilda “Suni” Andriotis, PhD; Board Member Rebecca Johnson. Two of our program participants will be interviewed about this important opportunity.

Delivering free Internet access is an important step in bridging the digital divide. We are certain that our program participants will put this to great use.

Our residential program serves just under 500 individuals and consists of five residences in Brooklyn and the Bronx. We provide residential support, mental health and substance abuse counseling, job and vocational training, case management, peer support, and crisis intervention. Our shelter services assist approximately 1,500 additional individuals.

LSSNY provides trusted, community-rooted support that meets urgent needs and builds lasting change.
