‘Act justly, and love mercy, and walk humbly with your God.’”
We are deeply honored to be recognized by Lutheran Services in America for how we inspire others and exemplify the spirit of Micah.
Says the organization, “LSSNY exhibited outstanding leadership in addressing justice, mercy, and equity as it transformed from a social service organization to a proactive agent of social change. Thank you, LSSNY, for your commitment to race equity, inclusion, and diversity!”
Following the death of George Floyd, we incorporated social justice practices to better serve our communities by collaborating with others to address the systemic effects of poverty and social injustice. We created a civic engagement committee, political candidate forums, social justice book club, and strategic plan. Our staff and board of directors initiated a dialogue about issues such as white supremacy, educational privilege, and colorism.
“It is an honor and a privilege to be recognized by Lutheran Services in America, which represents more than 300 Lutheran social ministry organizations,” says our President and CEO, Dr. Damyn Kelly. “This tremendous network provides services to one out of every 50 people in the US. Proud to be a member.”
